There are really two key elements when it comes to keeping your hair as healthy as possible; regular maintenance trims and continuous education!
1: Maintenance Trims
Wait too long between cuts and curls need more than a “trim” to be free of split ends
“Maintenance trims are essential for removing split ends and shaping to enhance your natural curl and texture.”
~Senior Stylist Jessica at Curl Evolution
When to trim your hair:
For short hair trims should occur every four-six weeks!
For medium-long length trims should occur every eight-twelve weeks!
If you are trying to grow your hair longer trim every ten-twelve weeks!

BONUS: Fairy Knots
Has your hair been frizzy and riddled with tiny knotty lately? These frizzy knots have a name in the curl community; fairy knots. It sounds cute, but it’s definitely not something that you want to have in your hair! Fairy knots are a sign that your hair is getting dry and the ends are split which leads to tangles and breaking!
We don’t want your curls stressed, so our stylists have put together some tips to make sure that you get rid of your fairy knots for happier hair!
The secret lies in your conditioning routine!
To get rid of fairy knots, simply follow the steps below:
Squeeze all the water out of your hair before applying conditioner! This ensures that you won’t be using a watered-down product and get the best bang for your buck! You’ll get all the benefits of your conditioner without wasting anything down the drain. Saving more money on products but more importantly better results for your curls!
Make sure you comb the conditioner through your hair so every strand gets a moisture boost!
Start by using your fingers to get conditioner through most of your hair. Then comb with a wide-tooth comb to separate curls and allow the conditioner to penetrate deeper.
Finish with a fine-tooth comb to make sure every strand is coated with conditioner. This allows your conditioner to wrap around each of your curls and provide the most hydration possible.
Pro Tip: After combing your conditioner through, allow it to sit in your hair for at least 5 minutes after combing for your best results!
